Retirement

That word sounds weird to me. As the person who is experiencing that word, it seems very strange to not have any time commitments, no place to be, no one to see, a strangely quiet phone, and no one to talk to! Ha! At any rate, I am retired and there is no turning back now!

One thing I have not been in my newfound freedom is bored. As many of you know, I have a good number of ministries that I attempt to manage with God’s direction. This radio station is probably the biggest thing on my plate and certainly the most recognizable. I also have another website in the works called Worthwhile Writings and have been authoring a couple of books for a few years now. So, I guess all of this is my new work!

I have been working hard this week to get through the emails that have backed up over the past few months, and I have some great stuff in the works. The project spotlights will be starting up again very soon with planned features on projects from Heather Thomas Van Deren and from the Mylon Hayes Family. I have several others in the works, but we are not quite ready to announce anything official just yet.

Some of you who have known about this retirement for a little while have been asking that question that I hear a lot, “When are you going live on-air again?” Well, it is true I now have the time … so, how about this coming weekend? I will let you know the specifics later today. Also, I will try to “go live” weekly from now until the end of the year. The key word there is TRY!

I have also been asked if I intend to keep the station going in my retirement. Honestly, I do not know the future of this station. There is quite a cost involved in running the station and being retired has cut significantly into my income. However, as long as God gives the resources, I will keep it going. I do intend to keep my syndicated radio programs going as there are other stations depending on them for programming.

Well, I have to go figure out what day of the week it is, and what I am supposed to be doing! Ha! Ain’t retirement fun!

Gaither Homecoming Radio

We are sorry that the Gaither Homecoming Radio program is not playing at its regularly scheduled time. I am on the road and have very limited resources available to determine what the problem is. We are working on it and we will try to get the program broadcasted in the near future.

As always, thanks for listening.

UPDATE: I have no idea why it is not playing … it was scheduled and for whatever reason it did not play. I have rescheduled it for 1:00 pm eastern time. We will try again! Sorry for the inconvenience.

Christmas Programming 2024

His Message His Call Radio is excited to announce our plans for Christmas programming during the 2024 Christmas season.

Join Rolo and friends for a special celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday. We love Thanksgiving and want to celebrate it before beginning the Christmas season.

Join Scott Evans Live On-Air as he plays some Christmas tunes and gives a preview of some of the things you can expect to hear on the station over the Christmas season.

We are going to 100% Christmas music at midnight on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

We are going to 100% Christmas Music for the Christmas season, except for the Top 20 Countdown Show for December! We will still be doing the monthly countdown in our regular time slot on Saturdays for the entire month.

Join Scott Evans with a special combination of live broadcasting and pre-recorded special programming on Christmas Eve as we count down the hours to Christmas Day! We will be playing great Christmas Music, and we will be welcoming special guests Greg Goodman, Chosen Road, Final Harvest, The Rolo Man, The Hoppers, and Pastor Jerry Lancaster throughout the day, evening, and night as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Nelons Tribute

His Message His Call Radio joins the others in the Southern Gospel Music community in grieving the untimely passing of Jason Clark, Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber Kistler, Nathan Kistler, Melodi Hodges, Larry Haynie and Melissa Haynie in a recent plane crash. The Nelons were immensely talented, and they will be missed for sure. I have my own memories of Jason, Kelly and Amber and I will be sharing them in a tribute here on His Message His Call Radio at a future time.

In the meantime, Greg Goodman, of Daywind (the Nelons record company) Radio has put together a tremendous tribute and made it available to other stations. We are going to run this incredible tribute that features songs by the Nelons and clips from former interviews from the group members. The program is titled “Peace At Last … Remembering the Nelons” and will air nightly at 7:00 PM eastern time Tuesday, July 30th through Sunday, August 4th.

We also continue to pray for Autumn Nelon Streetman and her husband Jamie Streetman, who were not passengers on the plane and are left to sort things out. We also pray for Kelly’s brother Todd Nelon, his wife, Rhonda and their family. Finally, our prayers extend to the Kistler Family, the Hodges Family and the Haynie Family.

The following links are available for you to donate to Autumn to help her as she begins to deal with the aftermath of this tragedy. No doubt that Autumn’s life was dramatically changed in an instant, and she has many difficult, and major events and decisions ahead of her. Here are those links:
