For almost 30 years now, Brothers In Grace has been bringing the gospel message in song. I have been familiar with the group for a little over 20 of those years and they have always had an enjoyable sound and good blend. Their latest effort is aptly titled “Continuing The Journey” and Brothers In Grace seems to show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. This project contains 12 songs, most of them familiar to the Southern Gospel fan and all of them conveying the life-changing message of the gospel.
I love to hear the great old hymns of the church and Brothers In Grace starts off the project with “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah.” I have not heard this one in a few years and really enjoyed this version. A song that I first heard sung by the Cathedrals is next and “Shout All Over Heaven” is a great celebration of that day we get to Heaven. A true Southern Gospel classic is next as Brothers In Grace puts their touch on “He’s A Personal Savior.” I have always loved that song and this is a good version of it. God has an unlimited supply of grace and “God’s Grace Is Sufficient For Me” is a beautiful song that is a great reminder of the power of God’s grace and love.
“I’ll Never Sail Alone” is one of my favorite songs in Gospel music. Written by Daryl Williams, it reminds us that we do not travel through this life alone, we have God’s hand leading us. Another of the classic hymns is next and the guys deliver a solid acapella performance on “When We All Get To Heaven.” Prayer is the most powerful tool that a Christian has in its arsenal and “I Can Pray” is a great reminder of something that every Christian can and should do. No matter the situation or circumstance, we can take that care to Christ in prayer. “I Have Not Forgotten” is the next song and we certainly do not ever want to forget everything that the Lord has done for us.
The next song is a great song of encouragement. “Lean On Me” reminds us that we can lean on Christ in all times and He is always there to comfort and guide us and He is all we will ever need. Another of those great Cathedral songs is next and “Turn Your Back” was one of my favorites that they ever sang. Brothers In Grace has a great cut on this song and it was great to hear it again. “Too Much To Gain To Lose” has long been a favorite song of mine. The classic song was written by Dottie Rambo and the version on this project includes a medley with another Rambo classic as they include “We Shall Behold Him.” The project comes to an end with “When Jesus Comes” and it is always great to be reminded of that day when Jesus comes to get His children and take us Home to be with Him forever!
As I said in my opening paragraph, Brothers In Grace has been singing for several years now. I have reviewed a number of their projects over the years, and they always have great songs and wonderful performances on their projects. My favorites from this project are “I’ll Never Sail Alone,” “Turn Your Back” and “When Jesus Comes.” The project has 12 exceptional songs, sung in a great traditional quartet style.
