That word sounds weird to me. As the person who is experiencing that word, it seems very strange to not have any time commitments, no place to be, no one to see, a strangely quiet phone, and no one to talk to! Ha! At any rate, I am retired and there is no turning back now!
One thing I have not been in my newfound freedom is bored. As many of you know, I have a good number of ministries that I attempt to manage with God’s direction. This radio station is probably the biggest thing on my plate and certainly the most recognizable. I also have another website in the works called Worthwhile Writings and have been authoring a couple of books for a few years now. So, I guess all of this is my new work!
I have been working hard this week to get through the emails that have backed up over the past few months, and I have some great stuff in the works. The project spotlights will be starting up again very soon with planned features on projects from Heather Thomas Van Deren and from the Mylon Hayes Family. I have several others in the works, but we are not quite ready to announce anything official just yet.
Some of you who have known about this retirement for a little while have been asking that question that I hear a lot, “When are you going live on-air again?” Well, it is true I now have the time … so, how about this coming weekend? I will let you know the specifics later today. Also, I will try to “go live” weekly from now until the end of the year. The key word there is TRY!
I have also been asked if I intend to keep the station going in my retirement. Honestly, I do not know the future of this station. There is quite a cost involved in running the station and being retired has cut significantly into my income. However, as long as God gives the resources, I will keep it going. I do intend to keep my syndicated radio programs going as there are other stations depending on them for programming.
Well, I have to go figure out what day of the week it is, and what I am supposed to be doing! Ha! Ain’t retirement fun!
